Plan your quantities
Your plan starts here.
Choose your inputs, then calculate.
Defaults are editable planning examples, not tested serving recommendations. Protein means the raw weight you intend to buy; bone-in and boneless weights are not equivalent.
How the calculation works
Dry rice in kg = guests × grams per guest ÷ 1,000 × (1 + buffer ÷ 100). Protein in kg = dry rice in kg × the protein-to-rice ratio.
With 6 guests, 90 g per guest, a 10% buffer and a ratio of 1.5, the example result is 0.594 kg dry rice and 0.891 kg protein. Side dishes, appetite and leftovers change what you should buy.
For a vegetarian meal, set the protein ratio to zero or use it for a chosen ingredient you intend to weigh. This tool does not select ingredients or define a balanced recipe.
